The International Peace Festival is going to be organized in Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautama Buddha, which mainly includes programs like International Peace Marathon, International Meditation Day and Peace Concert.
Under the joint auspices of Nepal Tourism Board, Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, Lumbini Development Fund, Nepal Olympic Committee and Lumbini Province Sports Council, the co-organizers of the event to be held on Friday and Saturday are Nepal Overseas Chinese Association, Chong Hua Monastery of Lumbini and Lumbini Hotel Association.
The organizers believe that the festival will promote Lumbini as a world peace and cultural tourist destination. In addition, they claim that the festival will strengthen the state and people-to-people relations between Nepal and China.
A hundred monks and more than 400 people will meditate in the sacred garden on the second day of the festival held at Samavist Lumbini on the World Heritage List. The previous day, a seminar was held on peace and sports, and the next morning, a marathon race was held in four categories.
Among the participants in the marathon, 10 men who completed the specified distance, three women who completed half the distance and three students and other participants will be awarded. A total of 19 lakh rupees will be awarded to all the winners of the marathon.
The Lumbini Festival is being widely promoted in China as well. The organizing organization said that the work will be done by the Chinese Embassy in Nepal. Necessary preparations have been made for the significant participation of national and international runners, members of the Chinese delegation, diplomats, artists, federal and state office officials, people from the tourism sector in the marathon.
The marathon competition is going to be held with the support of Lumbini Buddhist University, Yunnan Mountaineering and Outdoor Sports Association, Provincial Tourism Development Council and Green Road Organization.
Similarly, games such as archery and wrestling are also being exhibited. On the second day of the festival, a concert is held at the Lumbini Square Theater on Saturday. Singer Ani Choing Dolma, Chinese singer Ulan Tuya and others will perform at the concert.
