Awoman committed suicide by setting fire to her own body in Kathmandu. According to SP Sitaram Rijal, Information Officer of the District Police Range Kathmandu,

36-year-old Shanti Shrestha, a resident of Chandragiri Municipality-9, Machhegau, set herself on fire after dousing in petrol.

He informed that she died at Kirtipur Burn Hospital at 3:20 am today (Saturday) during treatment.

She is the wife of Shanti Mohan Kumar Shrestha, a resident of Manthali Municipality-6, Ramechhap. Husband Mohan Kumar is suffering from paralysis. While she was sleeping in the rented room, Shanti poured petrol on her body and set herself on fire around 2:40 pm on Friday.

"The locals informed the police after Shanti set fire to her body," SP Rijal said, "Police and locals put out the fire and took her to the hospital for treatment.
