Himalaya Airlines has resumed direct flights from Kathmandu to Lhasa from yestertoday.
Minister for Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati inaugurated the Kathmandu-Lhasa flight amidst a ceremony.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, “The Kathmandu-Lhasa direct flight will strengthen the relationship between China and Nepal. Direct flights are expected to promote tourism along with exports of Nepali goods to China."
After Kunming, Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, Chongqing, Kongming and even Lhasa, flights have started operating to six destinations. Earlier, the Nepal government had urged the Chinese side to resume the Kathmandu-Lhasa direct flight, which had been halted due to Covid-19 pandemic.
In the first meeting of the Nepal-China Coordination Mechanism on Border Trade and Cooperation held in Lhasa, last March, Nepal had asked China to resume the direct flight services.
