A report of the investigation committee formed by the Tribhuvan Airport Customs Office to look into the 14 kg gold seized from Chandra Ghale on December 7, has been released.

A six-member committee formed under the coordination of Chief Customs Officer Maniram Paudel made the report public amidst a press conference on Sunday.

In its report, the committee said that Min Bahadur Ghale of Gorkha was in contact with a person named Ankit Agrawal in Dubai and made arrangements to smuggle gold into Nepal.

The report further said that Min Bahadur, Chandra Ghale and Krishna Kumar Shrestha, who were caught with 14 kilos of gold, were found engaged in smuggling gold into Nepal from Dubai, frequently.

The committee also revealed that Min Bahadur Ghale, Chandra Ghale and Krishna Kumar Shrestha have brought a total of 138 kg of gold via TIA so far by arranging seetings at the airport. Ghale had used Dhan Bahadur Gurung alias DB to arrange this setting. 

However, only 14 kg of gold brought by Chandra Ghale was seized last time, the committee mentioned in the report.

According to the report, civil aviation office, AC mechanic Radhakrishna Shrestha of Gauchar, office assistant Lek Bahadur Tamang, Ramesh Deula who is retired and working on a contract, AC branch assistant Anil Shrestha and plumber Sher Bahadur Basnet also played a role in passing the gold from the airport.

Ramesh Deula, Radhakrishna Shrestha and Anil Shrestha delivered the gold brought by the smuggler to the house of DB Gurung at Suryadarshan Height in Baniyatar, Tokha Municipality of Kathmandu after taking it out of the airport, the committee said.
