Rayamajhi remanded to 3 days for investigation

The court has allowed former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, who was arrested in the fake Bhutanese refugee case, to be detained for three days for investigation.

Rayamajhi, who was taken to the District Court Kathmandu on Monday, has been remanded to three days in custody for investigation. 

Rayamajhi will be detained till Wednesday for investigation before being produced in the court on the same day.

Twelve people, including former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, who were arrested earlier, were remanded to four days for investigation by the District Court Kathmandu on Sunday. 

Rayamajhi, who was on the run for 10 days following the issuance of an arrest warrant, was apprehended from Budhanilkanth area on Sunday evening. 

UML's suspended secretary Rayamajhi, who was brought to the Sohrakhutte Police Circle, was produced in the District Court Kathmandu today.

With the arrest of Rayamajhi, the number of people arrested on the charge of duping Nepali citizens with promises of sending them to America as Bhutanese refugees has reached 13.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Rayamajhi, former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey, Indrajit Rai, security advisor to former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’, are among those arrested in the case of fake Bhutanese refugees.
