The Revolutionary Communist Party, Nepal, along with three other Communist parties, staged a unified nationwide protest against the anti-national Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). On Wednesday, four parties, including the Revolutionary Communist Party, Nepal, demanded the expulsion of the anti-national MCC through a joint protest held across the country. The demonstration took place at 3 pm from Maitighar Mandala in the capital city, Kathmandu.
In a press release issued earlier this week, the four Communist parties stated, "Since the imperialist United States of America decided to implement the MCC project in Nepal, the Nepali people have been engaged in a relentless struggle, demanding its cancellation." We, the four revolutionary Communist parties, draw attention to the grave matter of signing an agreement between the MCC project representatives and the Nepal government representatives on September 13th, with plans to implement it within the next five years. We strongly condemn and denounce this conspiracy and demand immediate action.
As part of this agitation, we demand the immediate release of Comrade Tog Prasad Upadhyay, a Central Member of the Revolutionary Communist Party of Nepal, as well as other leaders and activists who have been unjustly arrested. The four parties, through their statement, further exclaimed, "On August 13th, the Revolutionary Communist Party of Nepal, along with left-wing, democratic, patriotic forces, and the common Nepali people, began a renewed protest against the signing of the agreement. The protesting forces and the Nepali people demand the cancellation of the MCC project."
We, the four parties, firmly oppose the implementation of the MCC project within the next five years. Moreover, we strongly urge the Nepal government to reconsider this interventionist project and cancel it without delay. In conclusion, the statement emphasizes, "We call upon the patriotic Nepali people to join us in the streets, to collectively voice their opposition and to exert their strength in the struggle to cancel the interventionist MCC project."
