The Parliamentary Hearing Committee (PHC) has endorsed Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha as a new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal.
A meeting of the PHC at the office of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee at Singha Dubar endorsed Shrestha as the new Chief Justice unanimoulsy on Monday.
Earlier, there was a hearing on the complaints filed against Shrestha. Three complaints had been filed against Shrestha.
Shrestha will take charge of the ofice after being administered oath of office and secrecy by the President as per the constitutional provision.
The post has been lying vacant after former Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki retired on August 5 on the ground of age limit.
A meeting of the Constitutional Council on August 3 had recommended Senior Justice Shrestha of the Supreme Court for the appointment of the Chief Justice.
On August 8, a meeting of the PHC had called for complaints against Shrestha within 10 days.
