West Indies defeated Nepal by 101 runs in the group stage match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier held at the Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe on Thursday.

West Indies restricted Nepal to 238 runs while the latter were chasing the 340-run mammoth target.

Jason Holder took the highest three wickets giving away 34 runs while Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein and Keemo Paul took two wickets each for West Indies.

Similarly, Nepal’s Aarif Sheikh made 63 runs, Gulsan Jha hit 42 runs while Rohit Paudel contributed 30 runs while chasing the target.

Kushal Bhurtel, Bhim Sharki, Sandeep Lamichhane and Kushal Malla were sent to the pavillion chiefly.

Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, West Indies notched up 339 runs losing seven wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Shai Hope topped the score with 132 runs studded with 10 fours and three sixes off 129 balls. Similarly, Nicholas Pooran hit 115 runs including 10 fours and four sixes off 94 deliveries while Rovman Powell contributed 29 runs.

In reply, Nepal’s Lalit Rajbanshi claimed the highest three wickets conceding 52 runs while Karan KC, Gulsan Jha, Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Singh Airee grabbed one wicket each.
