Home team Nepal made a flying start in the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Women's Volleyball Championship. Nepal defeated Kyrgyzstan in straight sets in the tournament that kicked off at the National Sports Council's Covered Hall in Tripureshwar on Monday.

In the match, Nepal clinched a won with 25-11, 25-19 and 25-11 over the visiting team. Tribhuvan Army Club's Sangam Mahato and New Diamond Sports Club's Rima Kunwar made their debut in the match against Kyrgyzstan.

Nepal in Group A are scheduled to play Bangladesh on May 23 and India on May 24. In today's first match of Group B, Uzbekistan beat Sri Lanka straight sets. Uzbekistan got off to a winning start by defeating Sri Lanka 27-25, 25-20 and 25-14. In the second and first match of Group A on Monday, India beat Bangladesh in straight sets.

In the match, India won easily against Bangladesh by 25-3, 25-9 and 25-6. Monday's final match of the league stage will feature Maldives and Kazakhstan from Group B. The game will start at 7 pm.

Debut of Sangam and Rima

Sangam Mahato and Rima Kunwar made their debut in the national team in the match against Kyrgyzstan under CAVA Women's Volleyball Challenge Cup starting from Monday. 

Middle blocker Sangam Mahato made her national team debut in the match against Kyrgyzstan. 

In domestic volleyball tournament, the departmental team are affiliated to Tribhuvan Army Club. Sangam, who has been performing brilliantly in the domestic competition, of late, managed to catch the attention of foreign coach Jan de Brandt after maintaining it in the qualifiers as well. 

Rima Kunwar of New Diamond Youth Sports Club made her debut in the national team in a short time from the match against Kyrgyzstan.

Rima is playing from New Diamond in the domestic tournament. In the tournament where New Diamond is not participating, Rima of Baglung is playing from Gandaki Province. # Rima represented Gandaki Province in the 9th National Games.
